Recent Graduate Updates

Mikie, Engaged in a project

Our graduates continue to make their way in the worlds of Project Management and Estimating. Here are the success stories of six recent graduates:

Tim B. has secured a position with an HVAC contractor in Vancouver, WA. Tim’s background was not in the HVAC field, so he had quite a learning curve to overcome. Persistence and hard work landed him the position of Estimator and Project Manager.

Peter B. started looking into positions in the Electrical field before receiving an offer from a large Excavation contractor. Peter is happy at his new position with an excellent benefits and pay package.

Tim C. came to Northwest Tech with a background in logging. He now works for a General Contractor in Eugene as a Project Manager. Tim has been involved in many Starbuck’s construction projects—keep that coffee coming!

Robert F. has accepted a position with a Siding and Residential Construction company. Robert is excited about his new career and is ready to implement programs to assist his new employer to grow and prosper.

Scott L. is in the Eugene area working for a General Contractor. Scott is having fun and doing well. We expect big things from Scott, and plan to keep an eye on him.

Arlo M. has accepted a position with a General Contractor in Portland. When Northwest Tech suffered a flood earlier this year due to vandalism, a call went out for Contractors to evaluate, estimate, and contract to repair the damage. The first person to respond was Arlo.

Our graduates continue to find success in a broad spectrum of construction disciplines. A trend that we have noticed accelerating is that of companies hiring their second NW Tech graduate—not as a replacement, but to work alongside a past graduate hire. Here are some examples from the Portland and Mid-Valley region:

  • Arlo (‘06), who we already mentioned, is working alongside Tony (‘04).
  • Steve (‘06) and Jack (‘06) are now working together for a General Contractor.
  • Jeff (‘07) works for a General Contractor in Newberg with Sam (‘05).
  • Jerico (‘06) and Keith (‘05) are together at a Residential Homebuilding Contractor in Salem.
  • Salvador (‘01), who now runs his own General Contracting business, has recently hired Al (‘07) to augment his other Estimator, Paul (‘05).

We are very excited about these developments and feel proud that our graduates’ performance has made us into a valuable resource for employers seeking personnel they can depend upon to go above and beyond. Keep up the good work!
